The bearwort, pear, and honey fasting porridge powder is used to prepare the popular pear porridge. The original recipe calls for one portion of this mixed powder, which consists of ground herbs such as bearwort, galangal, licorice, and savory. The pear porridge is suitable both for fasting and for regular enjoyment throughout the year.

Production according to Hildegard von Bingen:
Cook 8 cored pears in a little water and mash them into a puree. Then stir in all the mix powder, sweeten with honey to taste, and bring to a brief boil. Fill the puree into 3 to 4 hot containers, freeze all but one, and thaw as needed.

Instructions for use:

The prepared pear puree is consumed as follows: ½ to 1 teaspoon in the morning before breakfast, 1 to 2 teaspoons at midday, and 1½ to 3 teaspoons in the evening before bedtime. It should be taken regularly until the entire contents are consumed.
